How to Plan a Kids Birthday Party in Orihuela Costa

Four to six weeks before

• Agree the date with the birthday child and check it against school holidays and other parties.
• Decide roughly how many children are coming — venues price by group size.
• Request your date. Weekend slots in term time go first.

What to ask a venue before you commit

• How long is the party and what happens in each part of it?
• How many children are included, and what happens if more or fewer come?
• What food and drink is included, for children and for adults?
• Can you bring a cake?
• Are allergies catered for?
• Is there a deposit, and when is the balance due?

Two to three weeks before

Send invitations with the venue name, address and finish time — parents need the finish time more than anything else. If your guests are a mix of Spanish and English speaking families, write both languages on the invitation.

The week of the party

• Confirm final numbers with the venue.
• Pass on any allergies or dietary needs in writing.
• Sort the cake and candles, and check whether the venue stores it for you.
• Decide who is taking photos so it is not you all afternoon.

On the day

Arrive ten to fifteen minutes early, hand over the cake, and then let the venue run it. If you have booked somewhere that organises the party, the point is that you get to be at your child's birthday rather than working through it.
